Functional Fitness Program
Are you unable to tolerate a traditional fitness routine due to chronic pain, a disability, or other physical limitation? If so, our Functional Fitness Program is designed for you. Through our expertise as Physical Therapists, you can enjoy the benefits of regular exercise and achieve your goal of a healthier, more active lifestyle.

FUNCTIONAL FITNESS
Our Functional Fitness program is geared toward individuals who are unable to tolerate traditional fitness routines due to chronic pain, a disability, or an underlying medical condition. It is also appropriate for mature clients who want to remain healthy and active as they age. The program begins with a consultation to discuss your fitness and health goals. We will then perform a comprehensive musculoskeletal exam to identify your limitations and unique needs. Following the consultation and physical exam, a physical therapist with years of experience in rehabilitation will develop your personalized fitness routine. The therapist will oversee each fitness session and monitor your progress to ensure you achieve your health and fitness goals.
CHRONIC PAIN & FITNESS
If you suffer from chronic pain you have probably found it nearly impossible to workout without aggravating your symptoms. Even worse, you have likely given up hope, deciding exercise only makes your symptoms worse and you are better off not exercising at all. The reality is regular exercise has countless benefits in the treatment of chronic pain, and when supervised by a specialist, you will be able to experience those benefits without increasing your pain. In fact, the right exercise regimen can often reduce or even alleviate your chronic pain. Whether you suffer from chronic back pain, advanced arthritis, or another chronic pain condition, we can help you achieve your goals of a healthier, more active lifestyle.

DISABILITY & FITNESS
A physical disability can make working out a challenge. Workout equipment may not be adaptable to your needs, and your physical limitations may make it impossible to perform a traditional workout regimen. Fortunately, as physical therapists, we have a thorough understanding of how physical limitations can affect your ability to perform and tolerate an exercise program. We can tailor a fitness program to meet your specific needs and even incorporate adaptive equipment as necessary. Regardless of your disability, we have the expertise needed to ensure your goals are achieved.

AGING AND FITNESS
Skeletal muscle decreases with age if we do not actively work to maintain it. This can result in pain, overall fatigue, difficulty with normal tasks, decreased participation in activities and life in general, poor balance with fall risk, decreased bone density, poor energy and endurance, even difficulty standing from a chair (or toilet!) and walking through a store.

A common misconception is that this decline is inevitable. Research contradicts this, showing that not just keeping but increasing strength is possible at any age!
Furthermore, as strength and muscle increase, other positive changes occur too, including:
improved mental and emotional state, better sleep, motivation for better nutrition, increased energy, better posture, improved quality of life, and commonly a deceased need for some medications.
